This may sound nerdy, but Michael Lewis’ “The Big Short”! I’m fascinated by the financial collapse of 2008 and always looking to avoid ways the collapse affected my clients!

Tough call—but it’s a coin flip between Costa Rica and Japan. I know of a small surfing town in Costa Rica that has yet to be discovered and is like a dream to me!
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about you?
I wish people knew how thoughtful and intentional I am about my work. I take the responsibility of advising and supporting others seriously, and I’m always focused on long-term outcomes, not quick answers.
Chip has spent more than 28 years in the financial services industry—and as a third-generation financial professional, you could say it runs in his blood. Born and raised in New York, Chip began his career at TIAA, where he spent 23 years in a variety of client-facing roles. That experience gave him a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of retirement planning, but it also showed him the limitations that can come with working inside very large institutions.
After leaving TIAA, Chip joined a small regional bank, where he rediscovered the more personal side of the business. There, he focused on building and maintaining close client relationships—work he found especially rewarding. When that bank was later acquired by a larger institution, Chip once again felt constrained by scale and structure. So when the opportunity to join EdgeRock arose, he didn’t hesitate. The independent model offered exactly what he was looking for: the ability to work closely with clients and deliver thoughtful, customized advice without unnecessary barriers.
Chip approaches his role with a simple belief—relationships come first. Even the most creative financial strategies mean little without trust. He focuses on building genuine connections with clients, earning their confidence, and communicating ideas in ways that are clear, relatable, and aligned with what matters most to them.
Family has played a defining role in shaping Chip’s values. He credits his upbringing for teaching him the importance of doing what’s right, caring for others, and building meaningful relationships. Those lessons continue to guide his work today, and he takes great pride in helping people move into better financial positions than when they first met.
Chip came to Colorado early in his career when TIAA offered him the chance to relocate from Manhattan—an easy decision for a former ski bum. Today, he embraces everything the state has to offer. When he’s not watching his two kids grow, you’ll find him skiing in the winter, mountain biking in the summer, and making the most of Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle.
